A man has died and another person has been injured in a shooting in a park in Kentucky, where protests have been held over the police killing of Breonna Taylor.
Footage shared on social media appears to show a gunman opening fire as terrified witnesses run for cover.
It is not yet known if any arrests were made following the shooting in Jefferson Square Park.
A second victim is being treated in hospital, police said.
The park has become the focus for protests against the police killing of Ms Taylor, a 26-year-old black woman in her home in March.
Louisville Metro Police Department said: “Calls then came in that Sheriff’s department personnel were in the park performing life-saving measures on a male who eventually died at the scene.”
The statement said the police had cleared the park following reports of the shooting at 9pm local time and homicide detectives were conducting an investigation.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said: “It is a tragedy that this area of peaceful protest is now a crime scene.”
The park has been a centre for protests against the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old emergency medical technician, was killed on March 13 after officers entered her apartment bearing a “no-knock” arrest warrant.
One of the three officers involved in her shooting was dismissed from the police department on Tuesday.
Louisville Metropolitan Police Department wrote on Twitter: “Just about 9 pm, there were reports of shots fired in Jefferson Square Park. Calls then came in that Sheriff’s Department personnel were in the park performing life-saving measures on a male who eventually died at the scene.
“A short time later, we got a report of another shooting victim at the Hall of Justice. That person was taken to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
“Officers cleared the park completely and have secured the entire area so homicide detectives can conduct their investigation.
“Detectives are trying to gather as much information as possible in order to identify all who were involved in the incident.”
Breonna Taylor was shot dead by police at her home in Louisville in March.
Officers were carrying out a narcotics raid, but no drugs were found at the property.
