Leigh-Anne Pinnock has defiantly hit back over claims her fiance Andre Grey broke lockdown rules for his birthday by sharing a snap of his stylish cake.
The 28-year-old Little Mix singer, who has been with footballer Andre since 2016, made no mention of the Sunday Mirror claims when she posted a picture of his elaborate birthday cake to her Instagram Story.
Showing off the elegant single-tiered black and cream cake – which featured flecks of gold leaf and smears of 3D black icing, as well as chocolate decorations and a mini bottle of Patron XO Café Tequila on top – Leigh-Anne wrote: “This was one of the tastiest cakes I’ve ever eaten @mirnacakes.”
It comes after the Watford striker was accused of hosting a party celebrating his 29th birthday on Friday at the mansion they share – although there is no suggestion Leigh-Anne was involved.
Footage posted to Andre’s Instagram – before being deleted – suggested some 20 friends had gathered at the couple’s home for the shindig, with his footballer pal Domingos Quina being filmed playing football on Andre’s artificial pitch.
The party would have broken lockdown rules and social distancing guidelines that allow six people to meet in gardens or parks if social distancing of two metres is observed, the Sunday Mirror reports today.
It was also seemingly a breach of the Premier League’s Project Restart protocols, put in place to allow professional football to return behind closed doors – which means players must remain within their family groups to avoid unnecessary risk of carrying infection into their clubs and matches.
Gray’s employer said: “Watford Football Club is aware of social media posts which suggest two of our players have contravened the Government’s lockdown protocols.
“The club will fully investigate the matter and speak to the players concerned.”
It comes after Andre popped the question to Leigh-Anne as they celebrated their anniversary in May.
The cute couple announced their engagement in a string of social media posts, both grinning from ear to ear as Leigh-Anne showed off her enormous diamond ring.
The emotional singer gushed : “Guys.. wtf has just happened… He bloody did it, and I said yes. I’m marrying my soul mate, the man of my flipping dreams…
“I am lost for words, so I think I’m just going to go cry some more @andregray_ I love you so much. My world is literally complete.”
In his post, Andre wrote: “Let the caption speak for itself this time. Hasta la muerte.”
Her Little Mix bandmates shared their excitement in the comments.
Jesy Nelson wrote: “These pictures. Love you both, you deserve the world.”
Jade Thirlwall added: “I love you so muchhhhh and am so happy for you bothhhh. I gotta new brother in law y’all.”
Perrie Edwards gushed: “Finally something wonderful to come out of 2020.
“You don’t understand how this makes me happy. Leigh-Anne deserves the world and nothing less! I’m over the moon for you both. ILY.”
